W. Wyatt Needham, 89, of Oklahoma City, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on August 29, 2012. Born to W.W. Needham, Sr. and Martha Riggs Needham on July 1, 1923, in Shawnee, Oklahoma, Wyatt accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior at age 10 while attending First Baptist Church, Shawnee. Wyatt proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Following his graduation from Oklahoma Baptist University in 1950, he attended Southwestern Seminary and began his 35-year service as full-time church music and education director in Missouri, Arizona, Texas and Oklahoma. After his retirement, Wyatt's love of serving his Savior through encouraging others in the study of God's word extended to serving in the Senior Adult Choir, playing alto sax with the Senior Orchestra and directing the Senior Adult department at Village Baptist Church. For two years, he was a member of the Singing Churchmen of Oklahoma and at 85 was the oldest person to travel overseas to Albania and Israel with the group in 2009. Wyatt is survived by his wife of 66 years, Mary Ida Needham; his five children and their families: Martha Fae Frymire, husband Will and son Timothy; David, wife Susan and daughter Megan Seagraves, (husband Josh), and son Richard; Mary Sue McNeal, husband Don, and children Robbin Freeman, (husband Orin) and Brock McNeal (wife Stefanie); Paul Needham, wife Mary and daughter Caitlin; and Skye Schuyler. A celebration of his life and a joyous celebration of our hope in the resurrection will be held September 4, 2012, at 10 a.m. at Village Baptist Church in Oklahoma City. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Shawnee, Oklahoma.
