Marilyn J. Hallberg, 89, Bismarck, died August 31, 2012, at the Marian Manor Care Center in Glen Ullin, ND. Services were Wednesday, September 5, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck.

Marilyn Jean was born April 30, 1923, at Duluth, MN, the daughter of Herbert John and Ella Adeline (Munro) Pogatschnick. She was raised and educated in Duluth, and graduated from Duluth High School in 1941.

Marilyn married Frank Hjalmer Hallberg on November 28, 1942, at Camp Roberts, CA. They moved to Battle Creek, CA, then Marilyn returned to Duluth while Frank served in the Army during WWII. She worked as a bookkeeper at Big Duluth Men's Clothing.

After Frank's discharge they moved to Jamestown, ND, where the couple started their career with Stanley Home Products. Marilyn managed the office work and remained in sales until her retirement. She loved her sales work, and at one time, due to skill and hard work, won every brass adornment from North Dakota to Texas. Fundraisers were her specialty.

When she had free time she enjoyed knitting. Marilyn was a member of McCabe United Methodist Church and belonged to a circle. She was very charitable and felt it important to give to others when they had needs.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, Frank; two sons, Ross and Gerry; her sister, Marjory Musolf; and her brother-in-law, John Hallberg.
