Emil Vogt, 48, retired farmer living one-half mile east of Mt Joy, Iowa, died suddenly at his home at 6:45 p.m. Thursday as he was lying on a davenport resting after his return from work. Death was due to a heart attack, according to Coroner W.F. Skelley. Mr Vogt had been in good health, but had been suffering from a cold during the past week.
He was born in Mt Joy Sept. 17, 1888 and received his education in the schools of Scott county. He married Ruth Negus in Davenport
Feb 22, 1919. He had been engaged in farming until recently when he was employed by the Scott county board of supervisors as driver of a county oil truck. He was a member of the Davenport Eagles Lodge.
Surviving are his wife, three sons, Eldon of San Diego, Calif., Gaylen and Oscar Evans, at home; one daughter, Mrs Ethel Schulz of Rock Island; his mother, Mrs Amelia Vogt of Davenport; one sister, Hilda Vogt of Davenport; three brothers, Chris of Davenport, and Henry and Carl of Mt Joy, and four grandchildren. His father preceded him in death, Oct 8, 1927.
