Harlan Lee Johnson, 62, of Shell Lake died Friday, August 24, 2012 at University of Minnesota Fairview East. He was born April 26, 1950 in Shell Lake, WI to Lester and Dorothy (Honnef) Johnson. He graduated from Shell Lake High School in 1968. He earned employment with Washburn County Highway Department, and worked there until retiring in 2005. While there, Harlan had multiple jobs, including oil truck driver, parts man, sign truck operator. He was married in Crosby, MN on October 1, 1977 to Mary Ellen Snook.

Harlan loved watching sports of all kinds, bowling, playing baseball and football, and keeping his basement in tip top shape.

He is survived by his wife, Mary of Shell Lake; his stepfather, Bill Rylander of Shell Lake; 2 brothers, Darryl (Wilma) Johnson of Barronett and Kevin (Terri) Johnson of Spooner; sisters-in-law, Sandra (John) Taylor of Deerwood, MN, Carol (Ken) Rood of Aitkin, MN, Karen (John) Rosecrans of Deerwood, MN, Patty (Jerry) Horazdovsky of Andover, MN, and Sherie Rogers of Northfield, MN; brother-in-law, Kenneth (Cece) Snook of Crosby, MN; his mother-in-law, Florence Snook of Ironton, MN; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Harlan was preceded in death by his parents and his father-in-law, Donald Snook.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday at Salem Lutheran Church with Rev. Don West officiating. Burial will be in Shell Lake Cemetery. Pallbearers are Mark Johnson, Brad Johnson, Mark Taylor, Ryan Rogers, Brad Rosecrans, Steve Richter. Honorary pallbearers are Kim Rosecrans, Max Snook, Tyler Rogers, Luke Rosecrans, Shawn Taylor, Michele Snook, Shannon Taylor, Josie Horazdovsky, Holly Horazdovsky, Beth Johnson, Jamie Rood, Scott Rood, Jordan Rogers and Peggy Bergrab. Visitation will be from 4:00 - 7:00 PM on Tuesday at the Skinner Funeral Home, Shell Lake and one hour prior to service on Wednesday at the church.
