CRAMERTON - Betty Jean Shires Cearley, 68, of 500 Cramer Mountain Road, died Sept. 4, 2008, at Gaston Memorial Hospital.
A native of Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Battle and Mary Elizabeth Helton Shires.
A funeral service will be held 3 p.m. Sunday at Catawba Heights Wesleyan Church.
Visitation will be 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday at Carothers Funeral Home in Gastonia.
Burial will be at Gaston Memorial Park.
She was retired from Pharr Yarns in McAdenville and was a member of McAdenville Baptist Church.
Survivors include her son, Jack B. Cearley and wife Alice of Mount Holly; three daughters, Sandra Blanton and husband Howard of Mount. Holly, Gaye Alexander and husband Jim of Gordonville, Tenn. and Susan Hedrick of Centeral, S.C.; three brothers, Ben Shires of Waxhaw, James Shires of Dallas, Kenneth Shires of Davidson; two sisters, Katherine Wilson of Palm Gardens, Fla. and Vickie Jenkins of Gastonia; and eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack B. Cearley Sr. and two brothers, Charles and Ronnie Shires.
Pastors Bake Garman and Wayne Earley will be officiating.
Carothers Funeral Home of Gastonia is serving the family.
