Joyce Ward Melville, 72, passed away Sunday, July 22, 2012 at her home, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born October 6, 1939 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Melvin Butcher and Lovena Schofield Butcher. Joyce was raised in Green River, Wyoming and attended schools there with her 14 brothers and sisters.

She married Doul Ross Benson and they later divorced. She married Fred B. Melville and they later divorced. She met her soulmate, William J. Ward, and they were married October 2, 1993 and again on August 9, 2003 in Idaho Falls, Idaho.

Joyce was a mother, a social chemist (bartender), waitress, and the best domestic engineer. She played as hard as she worked. She enjoyed playing cards, shooting pool, playing the lotto, fishing, reading, dancing and listening to music, gardening, and she especially enjoyed being with her family.

Joyce was a member of the LDS church. Her door was always open, food on the table, and the coffee on. She will be truly missed.

Joyce is survived by her husband, William J. Ward, of Idaho Falls; daughters: Shauna (Tony Woodhouse) Benson, of Rigby, Brenda Maiers, of Idaho Falls, and Judy Mount, of Rigby; sons: Kelly Benson, of Idaho Falls, Craig (Michelle) Benson, of Idaho Falls, Fred Melville, of Idaho Falls, and Daniel (Kelly) Ward, of Rock Springs, WY; brothers: Dennis (Lola) Butcher, of Leeds, UT, and Jerry (Pat) Butcher, of Green River, WY; sisters: Shirley (Glen) Nellem, of Green River, WY, Suzie (Ken) Whitehead, of Midvale, UT, Pat (Walt) Davies, of North Salt Lake City, UT, Sherry (Ace) Zenger, of Clearfield, UT, and Bonnie Bingham, of Riverton, WY; 21 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Maxine Butcher; and brothers: Norman, Don, Glen, Larry, David and Lloyd Butcher.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 26, 2012 at Wood Funeral Home East Side (963 S. Ammon Rd.. The family will visit with friends 6:30-8:30- p.m. Wednesday, July 25 at the funeral home and 1:00 to 1:45p.m. prior to the services.

Burial will be in the Ririe-Shelton Cemetery.

The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Joyce Melville Memorial Fund at Westmark Credit Union (815 First St. Idaho Falls, ID).
