Betty Blizzard Calfee (1950 – 2012)

Tampa resident Betty Calfee, 61, died Sept. 1 at Memorial Hospital. Services will be held Thurs., Sept. 6, 12 p.m. at St. Johns Episcopal Church, 906 South Orleans Ave., followed by a reception at the family home. Mrs. Calfee is preceded in death by her mother Lillian and survived by her husband John; daughters Elizabeth and Claire; granddaughter Madison Gainey; father William Blizzard, Sr.; brother Bill (Molly); sisters-in-law Harriet C. Rose (Bob); Amy; brother-in-law Carlton (Nancy); nieces Laurie Smith (Kerry); Emily Rose; Carlee; nephews Bill Blizzard, III; Robert Rose, Jr., John Rose, Sr.
Born in Memphis, TN, Oct. 1, Mrs. Calfee attended school in London and Scotland; earned a BA in Mass Communications, USF, 1973 where she was a member of Chi Omega Fraternity. In her early career, Mrs. Calfee worked as an account executive for Byington Company advertising agency. Her community involvement included Junior League of Tampa; Chi Omega Alumni & Theta Theta Chapter Advisor; Humane Society of Tampa Bay; Parent Association of Berkeley Preparatory School. She attended St. Johns Episcopal Church. The family would like to extend special thanks to our cousin Rebeccah T. Getz, RN, CMT, of Charlottesville, VA, for making it possible for Betty to spend her final days at home with her family; Dr. John Lippleman and his staff; caregivers Debbie Douglas, Antionette Nurse, Marcia Johnson, Connie Rankine, Pat Woodson and Yolanda Mitchell. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked donations be made to St John's Episcopal Church or the Humane Society of Tampa Bay.
