Mr. Billy McLemore, age 79 of Vidalia, died Friday, August 31, 2012 in the St. Joseph's Hospital in Savannah after an extended illness. He was a native of Toombs County; living there until moving to Nashville, Tennessee in 1981 and returned home in 2006. He was the owner and operator of Billy McLemore's Trucking for thirty-five years, and after retiring from Brown Transport, founded McLemore's Tree Service in Nashville. After returning to Toombs County, Mr. McLemore worked with Red Star Petroleum and FedEx. He was an Elder and member of the Cornerstone Church in Nashville and a member of the Vidalia Church of God. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth Todd McLemore; a daughter, Joette McLemore; parents, Bill and Ella McLemore; a brother, John "Pee Wee" McLemore; and two granddaughters, Carmen Brooks and Meighan Waters.

Mr. McLemore is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Blaxton McLemore of Vidalia; three daughters, Jonette McLemore of Nashville, Celetta Brooks and husband Doug of Ranburne, Alabama, and Billy Jean Sanders and husband Jack of Savannah; four step-children, Susan Powell and husband Wayne of Vidalia, Raymond Waters and wife Sheila of Aiken, South Carolina, Alan Waters and wife Deborah of Portland, Tennessee, and Randall Waters and wife Susan of Nashville; three sisters, Betty Kate Todd and husband Toby, Patricia Usher of the New Branch Community, and Elouise Seidel of Vidalia; two brothers, Gene McLemore and wife Sue Ellen and Mercer McLemore and Phanetta all of Vidalia; ten grandchildren, including Gregg Sanders and wife Melinda of Pooler; eleven great-grandchildren, including Lucus Sanders of Pooler and numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Monday, September 3rd at 11:00 am in the Vidalia Church of God with Pastor Dan Tomberlin officiating. Burial will follow in the Pinecrest Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home of Sunday from 5:00 until 8:00.
