FORMER MURPHYSBORO WOMAN, 56, DIES

Funeral services were Wednesday in California for Mrs. Margaret Shadron Archer, 56, a former Murphysboro resident who died last week.

Burial was in Whittier, Calif.

Mrs. Archer graduated from Murphysboro Township High School with the Class of 1929. She then worked for the former Daily Independent in Murphysboro, succeeded by the Southern Illinoisan. She had been employed by the Los Angeles Examiner since moving to California in 1944.

She was born in Murphysboro Dec. 18, 1909, the daughter of Thomas Edward and Jeannie Shadron.

Mrs. Archer leaves her husband, Don of Paramount, Calif.; sister, Mrs. Helen Cann of Los Angeles; and brothers, Ralph of Alhambra, Calif., Edward of Washington, David of Chicago and Robert of Murphysboro.

A sister and a brother preceded her in death.
