Edwin N. Erickson, 79, of 2214 Fairmont St., Manitowoc, died Wednesday, March 25 at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc.

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. William Plank will officiate and burial will be Monday in Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Lakeworth, FL.

Mr. Erickson was born Sept. 17, 1901, at Ashland, WI, son of the late Abraham and Christina Christiansen Erickson. He attended schools in Ashland and was graduated from Northland College in 1926. Following graduation he taught Science and Biology at Rice Lake High School, coming to Manitowoc in 1930, where he taught Chemistry and Science at Lincoln High School. He married Edna Neil August 19, 1931 at Superior, WI. Mr. Erickson was class advisor for Lincoln High School graduating Class of 1935. In 1937 he received his masters degree in Education from Northwestern University and continued his teaching duties at Lincoln High School, where he was appointed Science Department head in 1945.

Mr. Erickson was president of Manitowoc Education Association in 1945 and was active in many other organization. He contributed much to the success of state and city educational related endeavors. In 1947, after taking post graduate courses at Northwestern University, Mr. Erickson was appointed guidance director at Lincoln High School and in 1964 was appointed guidance director of City of Manitowoc School System, retiring in 1967. He was a member of Rice Lake Masonic Lodge, Manitowoc Elks Club No. 687, First Presbyterian Church and was ordained an elder of the church.

Survivors include his wife, Edna, a son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Neil and Barbara Erickson of Lantana, FL; a duagher and son-in-law, Marion and Thomas Schuknecht of Paradise Valley, AZ; a brother and sister-in-law, Leif and Juanita Erickson of Ironwood, MI; four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Pearl Erickson of Minneapolis, MN, Esther Gillis of Ashland, WI, Alpha and Charles Fieser of Chicago, IL, and Eldora and Lawrence Lufholm of Duluth, MN, and seven grandchildren.

Friends may call at Jens Funeral Home, Manitowoc, 6 p.m. Friday and at the church from noon Saturday until the time of service. A memorial has been established for the Edwin N. Erickson Scholarship Fund.
