Marion Blue, 83, of Independence, Texas, died Saturday, Sept. 1, 2012, at Scott & White Hospital in Brenham, Texas. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 4, at Independence Cemetery in Independence, Texas, with Bro. Phil Hassell officiating.

Marion was born in Navasota, Texas, to the late Frank Styles Blue, Sr. and Mary Lou (Goodman) Blue. He was raised in Independence, Texas, and attended school in Independence and Brenham, TX. Marion served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany. He worked at Boeing Aircraft in Seattle, WA, Steadley Company in Brenham, TX, and Independence Machine Shop before his retirement. Marion enjoyed photography and playing guitar in area country and western bands. He was well known as an avid collector of, and source of information about, the history of the Independence Community.

He was preceded in death by his twin brother, Frank Styles Blue, Jr.

Survivors include his niece, Karin Ann (Blue) King and husband, Wade, of College Station; nephew, Michael Coleman Blue, Sr. and wife, Rita, also of College Station; great-nephews, Richard King and Michael Blue Jr.; great-nieces, Misty Becker and Kimberlyn McIntire; and many friends.
