Paul Wayne Bailey, 65, of Hilton Head Island, S.C. and Ponta Vedra, Fla., passed peacefully Saturday, December 3, 2011 along-side his wife and two sons, at his home on Hilton Head. He died after an eight-year battle with cancer.

Born May 29th 1946 in Beckley, to Paul Joseph Bailey and Anna Progloski Bailey, both deceased, of Cranberry W.Va.

Mr. Bailey served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Hanau Germany from 1966-1967. He attended Beckley College from 1967-1969. Mr. Bailey opened a building, construction, and Real Estate company in Beckley where he built and sold many spec homes in the Stanford Acres, Old Mill Village, and Woodcrest subdivisions.

In 1986 Mr. Bailey relocated his family to Hilton Head Island where he continued his career as a developer and opened a real estate company in 1990. He served as owner/president of Paul Bailey Inc., and Ocean Properties, where he served as Broker-In-Charge for many years. He focused most of his real estate and developing career in Sea Pines Plantation, where he built custom, spec homes.

Mr. Bailey enjoyed sailing his boat around the coastal waters of South Carolina and Georgia, with occasional charters in the Virgin Islands. He enjoyed entertaining family and friends, and took advantage of many other coastal activities, both on Hilton Head, and Ponta Vedra, but real estate was his true passion. He is a past member of the Civitan Club and the National Board of Realtors. He is presently a member of St. Francis by the Sea Catholic Church and the Serenata Beach Club in Ponta Vedra, Fla.
