Jesse Daniel Ladd, son of Arthur and Martha Ann Ladd, was born in Pratt County, Kansas on July 22, 1892 and departed this life after a battle with cancer, at his home on January 22, 1955 at the age of 62 years and six months. The Ladd family moved to the Cestos community when Jess was two years of age. Here he grew to manhood and on December 24, 1916 he was married to Myrle Burr. The young couple established a home one mile north of Cestos where they had since lived. To Jess and Myrle Ladd, six children were born, Lucille, Burton, Juanita, Ima Jean, Jerry and Carol. Jess lived an active and useful life. He was interested in the development of good schools, and any civic enterprise which he felt was for the betterment of the community. He was a member of the Vici Christian Church: a friend to all people and a wonderful father and a devoted husband. He was survived by his wife Myrle of the home, 4 daughters, Lucille Hildebrand and Janita Moss of Vici. Ima Jean Button of Oklahoma City and Carol Reed of Midwest City. Two sons, Burton Ladd of OKC and Jerry Ladd of Vici. Five sisters, Lena Donley of Alva, Eva Henry and Mary Gaswint of Denver, Colo. Minnie Franks of Vici and Lottie Kellogg of Cherokee, Kansas. One brother, Dale Ladd of Vici. Also other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services were held at 2:30pm, Monday, January 24, in the Vici Christian church, with Rev. Maurice Graham officiating. Burial was in Riley cemetery with Shaw Funeral Home in charge.
