Nora G. Melhuish, Ladd, Coursey was born to William E. and Rose Campbell Melhuish on October 7, 1901 at Tivoli, Oklahoma Territory. She passed away at the Seiling Hospital, Seiling, Oklahoma on July 15, 1985 at the age of eighty-three years.
Nora Melhuish attended the rural schools near Fonda in Dewey County. She also attended the Fonda Church and grew to young womanhood in this community near Seiling. She was for a time an employee of the Seiling Post Office and also worked as a clerk in the Fonda Store.
The Melhuish family later established a home in the Richmond Community west of Seiling and while living here, Nora was united in marriage to Walter Ladd at Woodward, Oklahoma on April 3, 1937. One son, Keith Wendel was born to this union. Mr. and Mrs. Ladd lived near Richmond until 1942, then moved to their farm west of Camargo. They returned to the Cestos-Richmond area for a period of two years, then again moved back to their Camargo farm and ranch. Following the death of her husband, Walter Ladd, she with her son continued the farming and ranching in the Camargo area.
On August 12, 1955, at Sayre, Oklahoma Nora Ladd was married to Clyde Coursey. They farmed and ranched near Camargo until 1963, when they retired and moved into Vici where they spent the remaining years of life.
Her hobbies were crocheting, gardening, and cooking, and her special interests were her grandchildren. While living near Camargo she was a member of the Camargo Home Extension Club.
Mrs. Coursey was both a farmer and a housewife, a devoted wife and mother, and a loving grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W.E. Melhuish, husbands, Walter Ladd and Clyde Coursey, daughter Zoma May, and two sisters, Zoma Melhuish and Wildred' (Bill) White. She is survived by her son, Keith Wendel Ladd, her daughter-in-law Marquita Ladd, and two grand-daughters Karla and Marcia Ladd, all of Camargo; one sister, Elon Donley of Chester, one brother, Jim Melhuish, of Seiling, several nieces and nephews, and many friends. --
Her services were at the First Baptist Church, Vici, Oklahoma on Wednesday July 17, 1985 with Brother Chester Johnson of Vici, OK officiating. Accompanist was Linda Meyer and Vocalists were Linda and Pam Meyer. Casket Bearers were Cecil Coursey, Jim Hazelbaker, Verlin Day, Roy "Monk" Robinson, Delois Donley and Clifton White. Interment was at Sunnyside Cemetery Vici, Oklahoma
