Son Irving (1885-1959) was born in Ingalls, Menominee, Michigan. He quit school in the 5th grade to help out at home by peeling posts. In 1908 Irving married Molly Schermer (1886-1914) & they made their home in Faunus where Irving began his logging operations. They had 3 daughters when Molly died at the age of 28. Irving was left to raise Myrtle 5, Laura 3 & Elsie 6 months. He went to live with his parents, Andrew & Clara, at LaBranche, Menominee, Michigan. Elsie lived just a few months longer. Known as H.I., he had logging camps north Faunus at Helps & Turner, near Ralph. He employed 40-50 men. Andrew & Clara moved to their son's camp to help & take care of their grandduaghters. Clara cooked for the men & Andrew was the "chore boy" - handyman. The girls would attend school for 1 month during the fall, then would go to camp for the winter, attending school again for a month in the spring, until they were 14 or 15.
Laura married Louis Siegler, Jr. and Myrtle married Roy Cousineau. More about this family can be found in the Breen Township Centennial Book: 1878-1978.
