Born August 26, 1882 in Mosquito township in Illinois. He was the second of five children of James H. and Mary Charlotte (Golden) Leatherman, He passed away November 9, at the Good Samaritan Home in Dodge City at the age of 77 years, 2 months and 13 days. He was married to Beatrice May Reeves on December 27, 1906. To this union was born 7 children; 4 boys and 3 girls. Proceeding him in death were one daughter, 2 sisters and his wife, who passed away ony four days before him. He is survived by four sons; Bill and Wilbur of the home, Jimmie of Dodge City and Earl of Fort Eustis, Virginia. Two daughters; Alta Dalton of Fowler and Dorthy Moon of Minneola. One sister, Mrs. Susie Farly of Guthrie, Oklahoma and one brother, William Leatherman, of Wichita. He, with his family moved to Fowler in 1922 from Crescent, Oklahoma and resided here until his death.
