GEORGE RICHARD RIEGER George Richard Rieger, age 79, of Salem New Jersey, formerly of Vero Beach, Florida, passed away unexpectedly at his home on March 23. Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Albert and Wilhelmine Sturm Rieger. He and his first wife Marilyn were Unity co- ministers for 30 years, first in Independence Mo., and then in Vero Beach. He retired from the ministry in 2001. Upon moving to New Jersey in 2004, he became a member of Salem Friends Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends where he served in the areas of Worship and Ministry and Religious Education. He was also a volunteer for Friend's Village at Woodstown, New Jersey, where he did chaplaincy work and led both Quaker and inter-denominational services. He was a published author and a leader of spiritual workshops. Rev. Rieger is survived by his wife Mary Waddington, his step-son David Griscom Smith, and his step- daughter Deborah Waddington Smith and her husband Mark Quinnette. He was a shining light for all who knew him. The bumper sticker on his car reads: "God bless the whole world, no exceptions." There will be a Celebration of Life service for Richard at the Unity Center of Vero Beach on Saturday, June 7 at 2:00 PM. The Reverend Linda Machesic will officiate.
