Virgil Ray Losee passed away September 1, 2012 at his home in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was 86.
Virgil was born on March 16, 1926 in Delta, Utah to Isaac Huff Losee and Roxie Ann Young Losee. He was the eighth of 11 children- Roy, Hilda, Ralph, Ila, Glen, Eugene, Cecil, Virgil, Ted, Ned, and Allie Mae. Virgil served in the Texas-Louisiana mission from 1949 to 1951. He came home to farm, and on August 17, 1956, married Mary Elaine Cooper in the Salt Lake City LDS temple. They were the parents of two children, Mary Ann and Jay. After moving to Salt Lake, Virgil worked for several landscaping companies, then served for 19 years as the custodian at the Salt Lake Winder Stake Center, a vocation which he truly enjoyed. Virgil filled a number of callings within the church, among them scoutmaster, cub master, and President of the Doxey Hatch branch. He was, as many can attest to, an incredible dad. Virgil was born with a musical soul. As a young man, he, his brother Roy, sister Ila, and brother Cecil played for local Millard County dances, and in later years, he, Ila, and other members of the band took their upbeat old time music to venues across the Salt Lake Valley. He loved to garden, spend time with family, and serve the world in any way he could.
Virgil is survived by his wife, Elaine, daughter, Mary Ann (Bradley) Yates, and brother, Glen.
He was preceded in death by son, Jay Howard.
We wish to express our appreciation to loving friends and family members, as well as to kind health care professionals who have helped us along the way. We have been blessed.
Funeral services will be held Fri. Sept. 7th, 2012 at 12:00 Noon at Winder Stake Center, 4366 South 1500 East, SLC, UT. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment to follow at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
