SUMMERFIELD — David Ray Koch, 63, passed away on September 2, 2012 at Baptist Hospital.

Funeral service will be held on Friday, September 7, 2012 at 10 a.m. at Church Of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery.

David was born in Louisville, KY to Chester Garland Koch and Betty Sale Koch. He worked as a mechanic with the United States Post Service and had previously worked at Duke Energy for more than twenty-six years. He owned and operated D&S Handyman. He served many years with the Boy Scouts of America. David had an outstanding work ethic and was an outdoorsman. He loved canoeing, motorcycling, white water rafting, etc.

He was preceded in death by his father. David is survived by his wife, Shelia Barrus Koch; children, Sara Nichols and husband Mark of Greensboro, David Ray Koch, Jr. and wife Nikole of Orem UT, Jared Allen Koch and wife Rachael of Mesa, AZ, Joanna Landreth and husband Justin of Shelby, NC, David Candido Koch and wife Ashley of High Point, Samuel Lee Koch and Camille of Danbury, NC, Elizabeth Warren and husband Terrence of Greensboro and Leah Koch of Stuttgart, Germany; his mother Betty Sale Koch; brother Robert Koch and wife Francine; and sister Nancy Dockery and husband J.R.; and fifteen grandchildren.

The family will visit with friends on Thursday, September 6, 2012 from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, please make memorials to Boy Scouts of America or to Humanitarian Aid at Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 3719 Pinetop Road Greensboro, NC 27410 in David's memory.
