She was the natural daughter of James Olford Guest and Donna Jean Lewis Guest.

Brenda and her twin sister, Lorenda Eloise, were in a horrible house fire as very young children. They were adopted and raised by
Herbert S. Thrift and Eunice Godley Thrift

She had a younger brother, Frankie who was adopted by the Boring family.

She also has an older sister, Patty.

Her blood half-siblings are James, Evelyn, Barbara and Joy Darlene.

She first married Bill Smith in March 1975. They had two children, Rebecca Ann, (stillborn Sept 3, 1973) and William Stanley, January 16, 1975. They divorced.

She married Robert Butler in 1977. They had one child, Eunice Elizabeth "Elise", June 22, 1979. Robert also adopted Stanley. They also divorced.

"A very dear and old friend earned her wings today after a several year battle with cancer.

I have known her since I was a young teenager. She was the kindest, most gentle soul who would give you the very shirt off her back if she knew you needed it.

She will be greatly and forever missed by so many people.

I love you Brenda.
