Funeral for Mary Adair, 90, Lawton, will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Central Baptist Church with Dr. Keith Miles, pastor officiating.
Mrs. Adair died September 2, 2012, in Lawton.
Burial will be at Fort Sill National Cemetery, Elgin under the direction of Becker Funeral Home & Cremation Service.
She was born December 15, 1921, in Santurce, Puerto Rico, to Ramon Flores and Vicenta Figueroa Flores. She grew up in New York City and graduated from Wadleigh High School in Manhattan in 1940.
In the 1940s Mary worked in civil service as a typist and stenographer for the U.S. Naval Recruiting Office in New York City. She married U.S. Navy Chief Petty Officer Dale G. Adair on November 5, 1949, in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He died March 26, 2005.
Mary lived a life in military service with her husband and with him raised their four children in New York City; San Juan, Puerto Rico; Norman, Oklahoma; and Corpus Christi, Texas, before he retired from the U.S. Navy in 1960.
She continued her life as faithful wife, mother, and homemaker in Lawton beginning in 1961. She was homeroom mom for her kids as they attended Jefferson Elementary and was active in several home extension and friendship clubs in the community. Her greatest joy outside the home, however, was her 50-year membership at Central Baptist Church. Her service there included teaching Sunday school to five-year-olds for many years, helping to run the church's Mothers' Day Out program, and contributing actively and visibly to countless other projects that glorified the Lord and the church she so loved.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law: Robert and Sara Adair, Dayton, Ohio; and John and Teresa Adair, Lawton; two daughters and a son-in-law: Jeanie and Jody Caldwell, Lawton; and Lucy Petty, Lawton; a sister, Adele Belarde, Ventura, California; five grandchildren and their spouses: Ronnie Deck, Ft. Worth, Texas; Katie Adair, Denver, Colorado; Clint and Adrienne Petty, Bedford, Texas; Hayley Caldwell, Norman; and Craig and Jessica Caldwell, Lawton; two great-granddaughters: Celeste Maria Petty, Bedford, Texas; and Rylie Rae Caldwell, Lawton; a great-grandson, Jake Ryan Caldwell, Lawton; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband; by her parents; by a sister, Margaret Klemmer; and by two brothers, Gene Flores and Ramon Flores, Jr.
