OLMITZ — Clara M. Bahr, 102, died Oct. 1 at her home in rural Olmitz. She was born Oct. 4, 1911, at Barton County, the daughter of Joseph and Matilda (Beran) Birzer. She married Leonard R. Bahr Nov. 17, 1936, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ellinwood. He died April 12, 1993. A lifetime Barton County resident, Mrs. Bahr was a homemaker and farmwife.
She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and the Altar Society, Hoisington.
Survivors include five daughters, Patricia McConnell and her husband Ervin of Hoisington, Luella Call and her husband Tom of Rolla, Mo., Jenelda Moore and her husband Leo of Valdez, Alaska, Rita Bahr of Jones, Okla., and Frances “Jane” Dietz of Russell; four sisters, Margaret Reichuber of Hoisington, Eleanor Penka of Healy, Inez Geissell of Larned and Bertha Achatz of Ellinwood; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Donald Bahr; five brothers, George Birzer, August Birzer, Albert Birzer, Robert Birzer and James Birzer; and eight sisters, Anna Penka, Katie Birzer, Elizabeth Ohnmacht, Laura Tinkel, Celia Denning, Mary Birzer, Helen Schartz and Emma Birzer.
Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 5, at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home in Hoisington. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Hoisington, with Father Anselm Eke celebrant. Burial will be in St. John Church Cemetery, Hoisington. Friends may call from 1-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
