Found in The State 18 May 1906: News from Roanoke yesterday brought the announcement of the death of Mrs. Barnwell, widow of the late Charles H. Barnwell of this city and the mother of Messrs. William and Louis M. Barnwell, the only two members of the family that reside here at present. The death of this estimable lady occurred yesterday morning at 7 o'clock in Roanoke, where she resided with her son and a daughter. For several years Mrs. Barnwell has been an invalid but her condition became alarming on last Monday and since then she has been failing. Mr. William Barnwell went to her bedside and was there when the end came. She is survived by eight children, Messrs. William and Louis M. Barnwell of this city, Bower W. Barnwell and Mrs. Straught of New York, Mrs. John D. Kelly of Charleston, George G. and Miss Lottie Barnwell of Roanoke and Charles H. Barnwell, a member of the faculty of the Alabama Polytechnic institute at Auburn. The remains of Mrs. Barnwell will be brought here for interment, arriving at 10:55 o'clock this morning. The funeral arrangements will be announced later.
