The deceased was in her 84th year. She was a daughter of the late Dr. Robert Archer, a native of Richmond, who was a surgeon in the United States navy. She was born in Fort Monroe. She married the Rev. Frederick Goodwin, who was the first rector of the Episcopal Church at this place and they removed to Wytheville, from the Valley of Virginia in 1858 and Mr. Goodwin died here twenty years ago.

Seven children survive them- Mrs. William H. Rebble, Misses Sallie and Etta Goodwin of Wytheville; Revs. Robert A. and Edward Goodwin, of Richmond; Mrs. Hugo Lacy of Lynchburg and Mr. Frederick Goodwinof California. Mr. Frank Goodwin, another son, who married Miss Lettie Rutherford of Richmond, died in this place in 1892. * Source-Richmond dispatch., December 11, 1900, Page 3
