Gray Star was an amazingly beautiful, strong horse. He was very loved and is missed terribly. We miss our "Big Guy!" Rest in Peace, Gray Star!
About five years or so ago, we bought several small pine trees and decided to plant two in the corral with the horses to provide some shade. That night when we came home from work, the trees were bare! No pine needles at all! It was so strange to look out and see sticks standing in the field. Upon further investigation, we noticed that all of the horses had green around their mouths and smelled of pine breath! It was a sure give-away as to what had happened to the trees!
We immediately called the vet, who laughed and told us that it would not hurt them at all, but to plant the trees elsewhere next time.
Once we discovered that it wouldn't hurt them, it became funny.
Gray Star was an amazing hunter/jumper and won many ribbons and awards. He is missed and loved.
