He was discharged on a Surgeon Certificate of Disability at Washington, D.C. on Jun 2, 1865.

He married Mary Catherine West on 10 Mar 1866, Arlington Township, Van Buren County, Michigan. The marriage was witnessed by HELEN KIMBALL, age 16 years, and Henry Johnson, age 20 years. Hellen Kimball and Henry were also married this same day and their marriage was witnessed by William Wallace Kimball, age 20 years, and Mary Catherine West, age 15 years.
