Hershel worked as an electrician in Orange County, Calif., for over 20 years in the construction business, and at the Nevada Test Site for 20 years. He proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps in the "Pacific Theater" during World War II. He was a member of I.B.E.W. Local 441 of Orange, Calif., and I.B.E.W. Local 357 of Las Vegas. He was also a member of the Moose Lodge of Santa Ana, Calif., and the Marine Corps League.
Hershel was preceded in death by his wife, of 35 years, Betty. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Robert Ott of Henderson; daughter, Penny Dale of Las Vegas; grandsons, Robert and Eric Ott, Scott Dale and Grant Clemens; and six great-grandchildren.
Hershel enjoyed motorcycles, his red scooter, football, baseball, swimming, his dogs, old movies, his family and caregivers, and the staff and all his friends at the Nevada Adult Day Healthcare Center. Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Saturday, May 2, with services following, both at Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Donations can be made to the Disabled American Veterans (DAV). Hershel's favorite saying: "Semper Fi!"
