Ferdinand passed away on March 16, 1941 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania at the age of 74. He is buried at First Saint Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery in Mount Oliver, Pennsylvania. Ferdinand's son, Carl, along with his parents and three brothers are also buried at First Sant Paul's cemetery.
