Tyrrell "Ty" Raphael Wise of Yoncalla died Oct. 14 of cancer. He was 72.

He was born on his grandparents' ranch (Lloyd Wesley & Della Rose (Hanan) Wise) in Scotts Valley on July 9, 1932, to Raphael Wesley and Dorothy Edith (Walker) Wise. He was a lifelong Yoncalla area resident, and graduated from Yoncalla High School in 1950. He married Ladena Watkins in Drain on Dec. 24, 1974.

Mr. Wise served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War as a radar technician. He worked as a log truck driver. He enjoyed gardening.

Survivors include his wife; two step daughters, Vickie (Cole) Clark of Riddle and Debra (Cole) Rodgers of Oakland, Ore.; a half brother, Aethel of Eugene (died 2014); a foster daughter, Bonnie Baldwin; six grandchildren; Blake Parnell, Scott Allen, Curtis Parnell, Matthew Allen, Randy Rodgers & Nathan Gordon, three foster grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. A daughter, Charlotte Wise, and a step-son, Randy Cole, died previously.

Interment at Roseburg Memorial Gardens. Smith-Lund-Mills Funeral Home of Cottage Grove was in charge of arrangements. He also has a marker in the Yoncalla Pioneer cemetery next to his daughter Charlotte Wise.

Ty actually has 2 burial sites. One in Roseburg & the other in Yoncalla. His ashes were split between the two.

Ty Wise has no living biological decendents after Charlotte's death.
