Mary M. Korback, age 99, of Monroe, passed away on Thursday, October 10, 2013 at Monroe Manor. The former Mary Reger was born on February 14, 1914 near Mineral Point to Albert and Martha (Hayes) Reger. She married Frank N. Korback of Dodgeville on May 29, 1934. The couple farmed in the Dodgeville area until moving to Fennimore in 1949. They retired to Prairie du Chien in September of 1979. Frank preceded her in death on January 28, 1980. Mary later moved to Beloit to be closer to her family and finally to Monroe in 2008. Besides farming, she had been a Cook at St. Mary's School in Fennimore, worked at Ray-O-Vac, Prairie du Chien Manor and was Dietician at Grinnell Hall in Beloit for many years. Mary had great enthusiasm for the arts and sports. She enjoyed painting, singing, doing ceramics and cheering for her Badgers and Packers. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her son, Edward and his wife Judy and their son, James, all on October 19, 1963; her son, Donald; her daughter, Christine Adolphson and husband Nils; two brothers, Harold and Bob Reger and a sister, Ruth Sunberg.
Mary is survived by a daughter, Lorie (Jack) Fitzsimmons of Dallas, TX; a son, Gene (Kathy) Korback of Beloit; seven grandchildren, Eddie (Beth) Korback; Don (Julie) Korback Jr.; Sherri Korback (John Bowers); Jack (Pam) Fitzsimmons Jr.; Kathleen Fitzsimmons; Earl Fitzsimmons and Cheryl (David) McKee; nine great grandchildren; as well as nieces, nephews and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 A.M. Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Dodgeville. Fr. Patrick Wendler will officiate with burial in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday after 10:30 A.M.
