LOVED HOBART RESIDENT DIES
Mrs. Packham, 59 years a Resident of Hobart Passes Away

One of the most loved pioneers of Hobart passed to the great beyond Wednesday. That person was Mrs. Mary Packham, age 63, a resident of Hobart for nearly sixty years. She was perhaps better known than any other person in the city and was for years very active in the Methodist Church here. Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Saturday from the Wrobbles Funeral Home. Burial will be made at the Crown Hill Cemetery, Rev. Brown of the Methodist Church, officiating.
Scarcely a week passed for years, the Gazette learned, but that Mrs. Packham was not interested in or doing something for Hobart people. Years ago she sang in the old Methodist Church choir. She brought into the world six children, three of them sons who served in France during the World War.
Mrs. Packham was born in Pennsylvania in 1867. She came as a child, to Hobart. When a young woman, she married B. J. Packham, who is now employed at the National Hollow Tile Company. About four years ago she became ill with heart trouble, which, with an attack of influenza, caused her death a few days ago.
She is survived by her husband, B. J. Packham, three sons, Ben Packham, Battle Creek, Mich.; Gideon of Chicago, and John and William of Hobart, also, two daughters, Mrs. Fred Terrell of Battle Creek, Mich., and Mrs. Richard Carlson of Hobart.
Mrs. Packham was an active member in the American Legion Auxiliary Corp of Hobart. She had many, many friends in Hobart who will miss her.
