David L. Cornett, age 38, formerly of Shelby, and a resident of Seattle, Washington for the past ten years, died Saturday morning in Swedish Hospital in Seattle after a short illness. He was born March 20, 1954 in Shelby.

He was a 1972 graduate of Shelby Senior High School, a member of Most Pure Heart Of Mary Catholic Church and was a navy veteran.

Mr. Cornett is survived by his parents, Rebel D. and Lucy A. (Sheridan) Cornett of 4 Grove Avenue in Shelby; 2 sisters: Lucinda Fitts of Westland, Michigan and Rebecca Mahl of Willard; 1 brother, Matt Cornett of Shelby; his paternal grandmother, Lydia Castle of Plymouth; aunts, uncles nieces, nephews and 1 great-niece. He was preceded in death by a brother Christopher Cornett in 1977.

Funeral arrangements were handled in Seattle, Washingon. Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at Most Pure Heart Of Mary Catholic Church with father Timothy M. Downey officiating.
