U.S. Congressman. After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the California National Guard in 1916 and served as a Private in the Hospital Corps, 7th Infantry, on the Mexican border. During World War I (WWI), he served overseas as a Sergeant in Company C, 364th Infantry, 91st Division, U.S. Army. After the war, he studied law, was admitted to the bar in 1921 and commenced to practice law in Fullerton, California. He was Assistant District Attorney of Orange County, (1926-30) and District Attorney, (1930-32). In 1933, he was elected as a Republican to the Seventy-third and Seventy-fourth Congresses, serving until 1937. An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he served as a member of California State Assembly, (1940-52). After his term, he resumed the practice of law until his death at age 69.
