On 22 December 1894, Effie was united in marriage with Robert Baker at the town of Galesburg, Jasper County, Iowa. The officiating minister was Rev. F. Klooster. To this union were born TWO (2) daughters, Edith Baker (1896-1966) and Eva Baker (1902-????) Robert and Effie farmed in Jasper County, Iowa, near the towns of Galesburg and Monroe most of their adult lives. Effie Poortinga Baker died on 08 January 1955 at Monroe, Jasper county, Iowa, and is buried at Oakwood Cemetery, Pella, Marion County, Iowa with her husband Robert.
