Rufus King Boyd was the second son of Col. Marcus M Boyd and his first wife Eliza H. Hamilton, they were both born in Tennessee and married in Williamson Co Tennessee on Feb 15 1825. She died on Sep 15 1845 in Springfield Greene Co Missouri, after the birth of her ninth child, and first daughter, Martha Tennessee Eliza.
Marcus married a second time on May 28 1846 to Dorinda Cecil Price, daughter of Crabtree and Luvina Cecil Price. They had seven children.
Col Marcus and his oldest son, Sempronius Hamilton Boyd were both Union soldiers in the Civil War. At least three other sons, Rufus King, Erastus Halloday and Audley Shanklin Hamilton were in the Confederate Army and never lived in Missouri again. Like many other families they were never reconciled.
