Mrs. Sarah Bowman Scott, age 87 of Denton died Friday, September 14 at Hinkle Hospice House in Lexington.

Funeral service for Mrs. Scott will be 2:00 pm Monday, September 17 at Briggs Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with Rev. Gerald Ward officiating. Burial will follow in Mountain View Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:30 Monday, prior to the service, at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton and other times at the home of the daughter at Brown Street, Denton.

Mrs. Scott was born November 8, 1924 in Patrick County, Virginia to Delbert Fellow and Rezuba Puckett Bowman. She had worked as a CNA at Golden Age Nursing Home and was of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her husband Oliver Lee Scott, sister Sally Ruth Gibson and brothers James Robert Bowman, Glenn Luchum Bowman and Euel David Bowman.

She is survived by one daughter, Betty Elizabeth Gobble and husband John M. of Denton, grandchildren, Victoria Brown and husband Randy of Lexington and Tina S. Lanier and husband Mike of Denton, one brother, Vernon Lee Bowman of Wallburg, one half- brother, Tommy Bowman of Mt. Airy and two half-sisters, Susie Bowman of Stuart, Virginia and Sallie Bowman of Bassett, Virginia, and two great- grandchildren, Cristy Michael and Matthew Lanier.
