Samuel Jackson Abercrombie, who farmed in the Oleander Community more than 50 years, died at his home there Wednesday Jan. 2 at the age of 72.
Funeral services were held Thursday at the Oleander Methodist Church by the Rev. C. D. Mann. Burial was in the Oleander Cemetery directed by Gober Funeral Home.
Mr. Abercrombie was born in Cleburn County, a son of the late Oscar and Susan Eidson Abercrombie. He was married 50 years ago to Miss Maude Pritchyard. They had joined the Oleander Methodist Church at the same meeting the year before.
He is survived by his wife; two sons, Ted Abercrombie of Union Grove 1 and Robert Abercrombie of Arab; a brother, Henry Abercrombie of Guntersville; two sisters, Mrs. Alice Dunn of Union Grove 2 and Mrs. Ida Hyatte of Arab; and two grandchildren.

A farmer in Oleander for more than 50 years, Mr. Abercrombie died at his home Wednesday. A native of Cleburne County, he had been a member of Oleander Methodist Church for more than 10 years.
