Elmer Ewing Green, Jr. was the son of Judge Elmer Ewing Green, Sr. and Sue E. Hunt. He was a lawyer by profession, a graduate of Princeton University and the Harvard Law School. Having suffered with two bouts of appendicitis he underwent an operation, at the German Hospital of Philadelphia, to prevent a third attack. The surgery was successful; however, fever set in and was the cause of his death, two weeks post op, on May 28th.
