CECIL DAVIDSON
Memorial Service for Cecil Davidson will be at 1 p.m. April 7 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 575 Columbus Ave.
Cecil was born Feb. 7, 1931, in Wakefield, Ks. He graduated from Kansas State and was First Lieutenant in the Army. He raised two children in California and engaged in a number of careers including businessman, wine expert, and teacher. Never being content to retire, he developed many fond memories while substitute teaching at Vanguard College Preparatory School in Waco. He had a great passion for life. He loved painting, gardening, garden architecture, model ship building, and deep sea fishing. He was exuberant in his appreciation and praise of his family and friends' accomplishments and character, and of all the treasures large and small that it seemed only he would notice.
He was a loyal friend, devoted brother, uncle, and son. He was a loving husband, giving a rose for every year of his beloved wife's life on her birthdays, and telling her the first thing every day, "I love you this morning." He was a generous grandfather and an exceptional father. He gave courage by having faith in his children's abilities; by letting go of the back of the bicycle seat, by steadying the cast line with leathery gloves and then releasing it into little wet mittens, and by handing over the wheel of the car on wide open roads. A father stands like a mast in the center of childhood and chases rainbows clear across town to his children's delight. He drives 1200 miles so his children don't fly alone, and when his children have grown, he calls and asks if the doors are locked and the fridge is stocked. His swelling pride spills over in laughter and praise and hugs that last into adulthood. And his steadying voice is a beacon that lasts a lifetime.
He will be missed by his loving wife, Lillian; children, Denise and Steve; stepchildren, Tina and Barone; granddaughters, Angela and Nichole; step-grandchildren, Kari, Trey, Dave and Brian; sister, Charlene; as well as by the many lives he touched here in Waco and all across the country.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be sent to meals on Wheels.
(Waco, Texas newspaper)

Cecil was the son of Oreno Baker and Vivian Lucile Towle Davidson. He was married June 6, 1954 in Indianapolis, Ind. to Florann Greeson. They were divorced. Children: Roni Denise and Steven Ray.
