Ernest Godwin Geisendorff, 2nd Lieutenant
(June 11, 1838 – April 30, 1897)

Born in Kentucky, the Geisendorff family moved to Tyler County about 1854. Ernest's father died shortly after their arrival, but left his son and widow, Catherine, considerable property. Ernest worked as a clerk in the law office of Malachi Priest, a prominent local attorney.

He volunteered for Company K on March 1, 1862 as a private. He was elected or appointed lieutenant after the departure of Dr. J. J. Burroughs.

Following his discharge in June 1865, he served as Tyler County Clerk, and later as County Judge. He married Ms. Aplice Foster following the war. He was an officer of Woodville's Masonic Lodge No. 62 on the listing in 1876. Lieutenant Geisendorff died in 1897 and is buried in Magnolia Cemetery, Woodville, Texas. His wife was supported by a Confederate widow's pension (No. 16758) until her death Dec. 13, 1918.
