Elwood Allen was the youngest child of the Allen Family born in July of 1922. He had both an older sister, Sadie and a brother named Gilbert. The family lived in South Philadelphia. When he was 12, his father, Henry, died suddenly. While still a young man Elwood met and married Bernice Kell who was also very young. In 1938 they had a Son, whom they named Elwood. In the spring of 1940 the young family rented an apartment at 1619 Mt Vernon St, in the Spring Garden section, of Philadelphia. After Pearl Harbor, Elwood Sr enlisted in the Second World War and served Honorably. Sometime after his return the family moved to a locale around Bellmawr, New Jersey. Both Elwood Sr and his Son died before reaching the age of 62. Both are interred in the “Garden of Honor” section of Harleigh Cemetery, Camden N.J.
