HARTSELLE — Funeral for Alva Lee "Alvie" Heaps, 71, of Hartselle will be Friday at 3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Partridge officiating.
Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 until 9 at the funeral home.
Mr. Heaps died Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2002, at his home. He was born May 16, 1931, in Franklin County to Jessie Marion Heaps and Nancy Magalene McKay Heaps. He was a member of Powell's Chapel Church at Lacon. He was retired from Wayne's Farm in Decatur after 25 years of service. He was owner of Heaps Used Cars and Heaps Odds and Ends Store in Hartselle for 30 years. He was the brother of the late Rev. Robert Heaps Sr., Mary Elizabeth Heaps Matheny and Olene Heaps Marchmon.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Heaps; one son, Waymon Lee Heaps of Hartselle; one daughter, Jane Levon Heaps James of Falkville; two stepsons, Terry Brock and Johnny Brock, both of Cullman; one stepdaughter, Debra Bartlett of Cullman; one brother, Willard Armon Heaps of Decatur; one sister, Faye Heaps Schultz of Mishawaka, Ind.; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Derek Parker, Timothy James, Freddie James, Chris Heaps, Tony Heaps and Donald Heaps.
