She was born on Oct. 26, 1910, in the town of Marcellon, the fifth daughter of William and Bertha (Berkholz) Krueger.
She graduated from Pardeeville High School in 1930. She married Gordon Edward Babcock on Nov. 22, 1930. They farmed in the Poynette and Pardeeville area. Alma worked at Badger Ordnance during the war, cooked at a restaurant in Pardeeville and worked at Rayovac in Portage until she retired in 1972. Alma's hobbies included gardening, craft work and crocheting. In her later years, she crocheted many beautiful afghans, hats and mittens for the Machine Knitters Guild of Wausau, which were given to various charities.
She is survived by her loving daughters, Beatrice Roberts of Poynette, Velda (Glen) Putnam of Montello, and Edna Babcock of Madison; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Gladys Krueger of Pardeeville; nieces; nephews; other near relatives and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gordon, on Dec. 22, 1995; infant sister, Edna; sisters, Bernice Fuller, Eunice Tessmann and Jessie Rohrbeck; and brothers, Roger Krueger and Carl Krueger.
Burial in the Marcellon Cemetery.
