Samuel A. HEARD was KIA Civil War MIssionary Ridge. His wife was Sarah Elizabeth STEWART HEARD. Their children were: Mary and Martha, Judge, Charles and Wm Jefferies HEARD. Confederate soldiers from that war were buried in a mass grave. Heard's wife was never able to find it. A quote from Wikipedia "When a chaplain asked General Thomas whether the dead should be sorted and buried by state, Thomas replied "Mix 'em up. I'm tired of States' rights."
