ANDRZEJEWSKI, Edward Joselph, age 79 of Traverse City, formerly of Alpena, died Sunday September 16, 2012. Edward was born July 5, 1933 in Krakow Township, MI to Andrew and Julia (Kapica) Andrzejewski. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. On February 23, 1957 he married Mary Ann Zajkowski at St. Casimir Catholic Church in Posen. He was a life member of the VFW Post #2496, the Knights of Columbus #529 3rd & 4th Degree and a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.

Eddie had a heart of gold, so we know our God in Heaven has a special place for him. Eddie loved his family and being with them was his greatest joy. He liked riding his moped, fishing, hunting, playing cards and would be-friend anyone who came in his path.

Surviving are his wife of 55 years Mary Ann, three children; Thomas (Maureen) Andrzejewski of Grand Ledge, MI, Tamyra (Dennis) Purgiel of Gaylord, MI, Ashley (Jeff) Homant of Traverse City, MI, eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and two sisters; Francis (Phil) Skowronek of Warren, MI, Clara Przeslawski of Alpena. He was preceded in death by four sisters; Kathryn Detloff, Hedwig Shubert, Antoinette Schmanski, Gertrude Wieske, and five brothers; Joseph, Frank, Florian, Stanley and Michael.

Family and Friends will gather on Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral mass at 1:00 p.m. with Fr. Kenneth Stachnik officiating and minister of music Fred Szczepanski. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery with military honors provided by VFW Post #2496. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. The family chose McWilliams Funeral Home – Alpena to assist them.
