Mr. Green was 49 years and 28 days of age. He was born in Shullsburg, Wisconsin, September 9, 1857, came to Granby, MIssouri in 1876 and soon after entered the employ of the Granby Mining & Smelting Company at Granby where he worked continuously until March, 1902, when he was taken sick. At that time he was given up by both his family and physicians, but he finally recovered after nearly tow months serious illness. He then took up the matter of a zinc smelter for the company and succeeded in closing the deal of buying out the Lanyon Bros Spelter Company, at this place, for the Granby company and was made superintendent in 1903, which position he held until his death.
He was married September 14, 1879, to Addie Grace Clark, of Granby. He leaves a wife, two daughters, one sister and one half sister, besides a host of close friends and acquaintances to mourn the loss.
He was a good and noble man and a kind and loving husband and father. To know him was to be his friend. His charity and hospitality knew no bounds. He was of a nervous temperament and never contented unless in the midst of his work for his company or for his family.
He was a charter member of Granby Lodge No. 514, A.F.&M., and also a charter member of Granby Chapter, No. 125, Order Eastern Star, and a member of the Woodmen of the World.
