Delphos Republican, March 12, 1897
L.S. Disney died at his residence in Delphos Kansas February 24, 1897. Mr. Disney was born in Anne Arundel County, Maryland, November 12, 1819 and when but six years old his parents moved to Mount Vernon, Ohio. On July 2, 1843, he was married to Harriet R. Anders, and by this union seven children were born. He resided at Mount Vernon, engaged in a foundry as moulder a greater part of the time, until the spring of 1871. When he came with his family to Delphos Kansas and bought the Hotel, then owned by Jacob Yockey. He and his faithful wife ran the Hotel for many years, affording a pleasant place for the weary traveler to stop. Mr. Disney was a generous hearted man, never turning anyone away from his door, hungry, but giving them food and a place to rest of whether they had money or not. He was a faithful and devoted husband, and a kind father, always deeply interested in the welfare of his children. He was converted and joined M.E. Church of more than 53 years ago, and while he was retiring and unassuming in his nature, he was ever loyal to the truth, standing firm by his convictions of right, and remaining steadfast in the faith. He was a man of pronounced views upon all moral questions, and the various reforms of the day, but for several years he has been in declining health and owing to the infirmities of age has been kept closely at home. His last days were marked equally by great prostration and spiritual serenity, and so gently at last did the "wheels of life stand still" as scarcely to produce a tremor of his enfeebled frame. So has one of the pioneers of Delphos passed peacefully away.
His faithful wife, four sons and one daughter, and many friends mourn his loss. His body was laid to rest in the Delphos Cemetery.
