George Eugene Bacon was born on January 17, 1929, on the family farm near Lyons, Nebraska. His parents were John and Jessie (Shawver) Bacon. He attended Blackbird School and graduated from Lyons High School in 1947.

George was united in marriage to Lillian 'Tiny' Martin, in South Sioux City, Nebraska, on July 3, 1948.

They have made their home in Lyons. George opened Bacon Sodding in 1959. He was a member of the Memorial United Methodist Church in Lyons and the Lyons Volunteer Fire Department. George was named 'Boss Of The Year' by the Lyons Jaycees. He enjoyed horse racing and going (to the casino.

George has been living at the Logan Valley Manor in Lyons since April 18, 2002 where he died Sunday, May 26, 2002 at the age of 73 years, 4 months and 9 days.

George was preceded in death by two sons, Kevin Bacon and Sam Bacon; one grandson, Kevin Bacon; his parents and 7 brothers and sisters.

George is survived by his wife, Tiny, of Lyons and three children: Diane Fada of Omaha; Valerie Bacon of Lyons and Gary Bacon and his wife Kristie of Lyons. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren: Allen Bacon and his wife Stacy of Fremont; Georgie Bacon of Lyons; Cassie Bacon of Allies,Iowa; Tiffany Fada of Chicago, Illinois and Tyler Fada of Lyons. George is also survived by two great grandchildren: Blake Bacon and Hunter Bacon. Other survivors include: one brother, Howard Bacon and his wife Phyllis of Daytona, Florida; 4 sisters: Waneta Frey of Lyons, Tamsey Gatewood and her husband Ray of Lyons; Blanche Guill and her husband Jerry of Lyons and Florence Nelsen of Council Bluffs, Iowa; many other relatives and friends.
