Ralph was the son of Anna and Charles A. Klammer and one of seven children: Reuben, Arnold, Gerhardt, Frieda (Kinger), Margaret (Mrs. Arthur) Teidman, and Dorothy (Mrs. Erwin) Haas. He graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1925. He was a 14 year employee employee of Ford Motor Co. in St. Paul prior to entering the army in 1942.

He completed training with the 85th at Camp Shelby and additional training in LA, TX and CA. In 1944, Ralph completed additional training in North Africa before going to the front in Italy with the 5th army.

Tragically, Ralph was killed in action on September 13, 1944 in Italy as stated in a telegram from the war department.

He was with Co C, 339th Infantry and participated in the liberation of Rome on June 5, 1944.

Ralph was 36 years old at the time of his death.
