John Wesley Bennett, 70, of Lacy-Lakeview, passed away Monday, Aug. 7, 2000, at a local hospital. Services will be at 10am Thursday, Aug 10, 2000, at Lakeview Baptist Church with the Rev. George Wilson officiating. Burial will be at Moore Cemetery in Chalk Bluff.

Mr. Bennett was born January 22, 1930 in McGregor. He married Corinne Davis Sep. 2, 1951. He was a retired machanic and bus driver for Connally ISD and a active volunteer with the Texas Youth Commission in Marlin and Mart.

Survivors; his wife; sons, John Scott Bennett of Huntsville, Jerry D. Bennett and his wife Kim of Hewitt and Jay C. Bennett and his wife Angie of Lacy-Lakeview; sisters, Eunice McCollum and her husband Bob and Amanda Lichy, all of Meridian; brothers, Curtis Bennett Jr. and his wife Tommie of Chowchilla CA; and James Bennett and his wife, Louise of Oglesby; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren and many other family and friends.

Memorials may be made to Lakevew Baptist Church.
